Angelo Filomeno - Chromotherapy

San Francisco's Haines Gallery reopens with the group exhibition  "Chromotherapy," featuring artists including Angelo Filomeno.

San Francisco's Haines Gallery is pleased to announce the reopening to the public of Chromotherapy, a group exhibition celebrating the transformative powers of color.
Chromotherapy brings together works in various media by nine artists—Ai Weiwei, John Chiara, Kota Ezawa, Angelo Filomeno, Andy Goldsworthy, Mike Henderson, Won Ju Lim, Meghann Riepenhoff, and David Simpson—in dialogue based, in part, on color relationships. Within this diverse selection of works, color can shape mood and perception, create immersive visual experiences, or trace connections between our bodies and the earth.
Color has the power to transform, as in Ai Weiwei's sculptures, where modern painting on antique objects radically alters the work's appearance and meaning, or in Angelo Filomeno 's  (pictured) embroideries  , seascapes, like a  contemporary memento mori  , sumptuous colors and textures seduce while warning of the environmental impact of climate change.
Inaugurated on Thursday, July 8, the exhibition will be open to the public until September 5, 2021.

Angelo Filomeno (1963) is famous for his embroidered paintings that combine precious materials such as shatung silk, crystals, and onyx. He has lived in New York for about 20 years. His most important international participations include the  2007 Venice Biennale  and, also in 2007  , Senso Unico, PS 1 Contemporary Art Center, Long Island City, New York.
